Helping nature heal influenced our decision to move to Lunenburg County.
Both of us were city kids when we first met Rosmarie. When we bought our first house, she helped us put some raised beds, herbs, and a fruit patch in our small backyard so we could grow some food for ourselves.
We were totally new to growing things but Rosmarie helped us believe we could do it, and that it wouldn’t be that hard. That summer we experienced the pleasure of popping out to the yard to get fresh herbs for supper, picking juicy strawberries right off the bush, and of eating a meal made largely from your own home.
The way that Rosmarie worked was an inspiration. she didn’t just plan the garden, she explained how to make tending the garden easier by selecting the right companion plants and arranging them to help each other. The experience with the garden led us to believe we could make a bigger change. We have now moved to Lunenburg County where we have a small homestead complete with gardens, fruit trees, chickens, and cows. We would not have even imagined moving to rural Nova Scotia and taking on an old farm without the inspiration from Helping Nature Heal.
