Margot Symons

Land Steward

Having a background in forestry and environmental sciences, I understand how plants, shrubs and trees interact with one another, and how climate can have an impact on them. And then there's just something about the smell of dirt that I love.

Arriving at a worksite, I am able to assess and prioritize tasks that are to be accomplished. Having an eye for detail and wanting things to be "just right", I am able to work together with clients to achieve their goals within the landscape.

Having moved to Nova Scotia in the spring of 2019, working with Helping Nature Heal has brought me to many different corners of the Southshore, places I probably wouldn't have seen if it weren't for this work. With every project over a variety of landscapes, I have learned many things. There are different circumstances to take into account almost always, which requires a great level of flexibility in applying my skills and knowledge. Some new, some old.
