October Blog

Big news all year can be heavy on the heart. This Thanksgiving season may finally bring some reprieve as we join family and friends. Some folks may have more, and some folks may have less. Helping Nature Heal encourages you to see past the material resources and share in the spirit of this season.

The magic of this season seems endless. Green crisp trees turn to shades of copper, warm meals of the years’ harvest, the comfort of family and friends surrounding you like a favourite fall sweater. Knitted together as a community, province, country, and planet. Sharing our gratitude to one another.

Choices of how to respect your resources and share them, come with the magic of fall. Big news has been all over the Atlantic Maritimes and around the world this year.

A house lays in the mud after it was washed away by Hurricane Fiona at Villa Esperanza in Salinas, Puerto Rico, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022. Fiona left hundreds of people stranded across the island after smashing roads and bridges, with authorities still struggling to reach them four days after the storm smacked the U.S. territory, causing historic flooding. Truly hard was the pit of the rock fruit this year. Revealing how resilient Nova Scotians are in any climate. Fiona left such devastation behind, proving Mother Nature is and will always be in charge. No rock wall, levee or dike was going to stop her rage. Almost 15000 Nova Scotians are still without power (as of October 7th, 2022). Over a week has passed since the storm ripped through the province.

Our Ecological Landscape Office was flooded with the bad and good news of all that had happened. We had several successful projects with a multiple of outcomes. Our hearts are broken for our clients and properties that were hit on directly by this category 3 hurricane. The downgrade to post tropical storm was only felt by few.

As clean up efforts continue and data comes in, we encourage everyone to take this as a learning opportunity. Climate change is not slowing, and we need to adapt to the ever-changing times. We lead with faith and understanding. Difficult times can have smooth and logical outcomes. We adapt and continue to do the best we can. Nova Scotians’ are strong and intelligent. Battling hardships others may not even give notice to, but always having a sense of knowing your community is there for you.

One of the ways to ground yourself is with Forest Bathing. We offer tours in Forest Bathing all year round. Learn to read natures’ signs around you with our educational workshops. Using the tools and resources around is the human way. We have always been able to adapt when change is in the air. We gather our thoughts and hunt down better techniques.

Helping Nature Heal Inc. has the techniques to help you heal your nature. As we heal our nature, we can heal ourselves. Like the soil and trees, we will rebuild and grow again. Flourishing and abundant is how we hope you are enjoying this Thanksgiving weekend and Autumn season.
